It has been 2 and a half years since ASF first came into our soil. Our Philippine swine population according to PSA has been decreased by almost 3 million heads due to ASF mortalities and voluntary depopulation. There remains little or no assistance at all from the Department of Agriculture as ASF continues to spread in previously free zones. To make things worse, DA has since last year pushed for massive pork importation using curtailing inflation as a lame excuse to justify their actual intentions instead of helping local farmers recover. For this year 2022, DA is once again talking about MAV increases and further importations just before the coming elections. The only way to stop this deliberate and unjustified policy is if we as an industry come together and restock our swine herd population. With the covid pandemic still very active and wide spread, and while pork demand is still low, we have to take this opportunity to repopulate our farms and our backyard neighbors. The National Federation of Hog Farmers, Inc. will take this initiative and spearhead a massive campaign to assist our members and backyard neighbors repopulate cautiously and successfully. We ask all of you as our allied industry partners to join us in this worthy endeavor while waiting for a viable vaccine which we think is at least 2 years away. Last 12-1-21, your mission has been revealed and you have been chosen to be a part of the RIATF team. Join Natfed as we officially launch our permission to R-Pop project on 2-2-22 as this angelic number is a sign of good things to come, a sign of peace and stability as long as we believe in ourselves and focus on the important tasks at hand.
